This is another image of the full Sun but this time in natural colour as seen through my Baader Solar Film filter. Once again there were sunspots clearly visible on this occasion.

Sunspots Close Up

This is a crop of the sunspots from the previous image. The full scale image was taken with a Canon 350D DSLR mounted on a Meade DSX90AT Maksutov Cassegrain Telescope with a home made Baader solar film filter fitted. Never look at or point a telescope or a camera at the Sun without a proper solar filter to protect all the afforesaid … particularly your eyes.

Centre of our solar system … this is a false colour image … our planet Earth would easily fit inside the sunspots visible in this image.

The Trifid Nebula in hydrogen alpha. Because this nebula consists of both emission and reflection nebulosity only the red emission portion of it’s structure shows in this image due to the effect of the Ha filter.
